LUIS PANTOJA

Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Luis fell in love with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu after watching the first Ultimate Fighting Championship, where Royce Gracie proved that technique and leverage could overcome size and strength.

Highly regarded as a technician both in competition and instruction, Luis received his black belt in 2009 from the Yamasaki Academy.  He has been training under the tutelage of Mario and Fernando Yamasaki and Francisco Neto since 1999.

Luis has over twelve years of competitive achievements and ten years of teaching experience.  In BJJ, he believes that while strength, speed, flexibility and explosiveness are important, they should complement a solid technical game that comes through hard work and dedication.  Through his leadership, Yamasaki DC's successes continue to grow, with students medalling in the Pan-American, World and NY Open Championships.

Luis has a BS in Sociology from George Mason University and is fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French. He enjoys traveling, snowboarding, skateboarding, biking and photography.
